Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., gave a blistering review Wednesday of the testimonies of Columbia University leadership who appeared before the House Education and the Workforce Committee's hearing to discuss antisemitism soaring at the prestigious New York campus.
Columbia University President Minouche Shafik was very careful on Wednesday not to fall into the same trap as her peers when facing tough, and often tricky, questions from members of Congress over her handling of growing antisemitism on campus since October 7.
This comes after she relentlessly blasted Ivy League presidents for their treatment of antisemitism in a December hearing that resulted in the resignations of two of the administrators.
From the start, she took a more decisive stance than the presidents of Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania, who gave lawyerly answers when asked if calls for the genocide of Jews would violate school policies.
