'Romeo & Juliet' stars' lawsuit over 1968 film's teen nude scene tossed

Superior Court Judge Alison Mackenzie ruled in favor of a motion from defendant Paramount Pictures to dismiss the lawsuit brought by Olivia Hussey, who played Juliet at age 15 and is now 72, and Leonard Whiting, who played Romeo at 16 and is also 72.

The film featured a brief bedroom scene in which Whiting's buttocks and Hussey's bare breasts were visible, and the actors -- now both in their 70s -- claimed in a lawsuit filed in December that the movie amounted to sexual exploitation.

The actors, who were both under 18 at the time, are allegedly planning to appeal as well as file a separate lawsuit pinned to the recent Criterion DVD release of the film which would not be affected by the statute of limitations.
