It is the best way to get that across to a person who uses his incivility, who uses his incivility against our civility,
We’re going back to a 1950s America,
I got to say, as a new member of Congress, I was shocked at what seemed like a blatant disrespect for the House, and it wasn’t coming from Rep. Green. It was coming from the men behind him on the right side who were telling him and yelling, ‘Sit down!’ I mean, it felt like I was watching something in a history class of racist yelling at an elderly Black man challenging the President of the United States not to cut medical care for the sick,
We have to uphold the expectations of decorum here, or else, what are we? We have nothing other than just a club that everybody comes and yells at each other,
I haven’t had that conversation with anyone.”
What I did was from my heart. People are suffering. And I was talking about Medicaid. I didn’t just say you don’t have a mandate. I said you don’t have a mandate to cut Medicaid,
Well look, the bottom line is lots of people are frustrated, but the best way to protest what Trump is doing what we are doing and many senators and many congressmen are doing and that is organizing against these horrible policies of making — of calling Social Security a Ponzi scheme and then cutting, slashing people’s Social Security offices,
Well let me ask a different way. Would you rather see Democrats more in line with what Sen. Elissa Slotkin was saying or more in line with what Congressman Al Green and people holding signs in the audience were doing last night
Members are engaging in willful and continuing breach of decorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the sergeant at arms to restore order to the joint session,
You called it nasty. It was like four minutes into the speech when Congressman Al Green was yelling at the podium, and he was escorted out. What was going through your head as you heard the congressman yelling?"
The Speaker shall preserve order and decorum and, in the case of disturbance or disorderly conduct in the gallery or in the lobby, may cause the same to be cleared."
You, you lie!"
This president is unfit. He should not hold the office—34 felony convictions, two times impeached,
But we couldn't allow that on the House floor,
This is about the House of Representatives, Congress and respecting the rules of decorum that we have. You know, it could be any president, any member. This is bigger than any particular relationship,
This was beyond the pale. It went on and on, disrupting the entire evening so I felt it had to be responded to,
I was the first to approach the speaker about this issue. So, here I am.”
Our colleagues are on notice that the heckler’s veto will not be tolerated,
I think what Al Green did was despicable. I liked Elissa Slotkin’s speech. I think that’s where Democrats should go,
You have no mandate" at the president
