Trump’s Order Triggers 1,500 Troops Deployed to US Southern Border
The new United States government is taking swift action to bolster security along the 3,145-kilometer-long U.S.-Mexico border as President Donald Trump seeks to fulfill his campaign promise to halt illegal immigration and stop the entry of illicit drugs.
The additional support of 1,500 active-duty troops consists of 1,000 U.S. Army personnel and 500 Marines from Camp Pendleton in California who will get their assignments along the border upon arrival.
