Moldovan authorities have uncovered a Russian-backed operation involving 130,000 Moldovan citizens aimed at influencing the vote in the country's referendum on European Union membership.
Incumbent Maia Sandu has portrayed the Oct 20 contest as a test of her pro-European politics.
However, the Moldovan electoral commission refused to register the Victory bloc for the presidential elections and referendum, citing several non-compliance issues.
