One of the personal highlights of my career was bringing the French Film Gardé a Vue (Under Suspicion) to life with the incredibly gifted Gene Hackman. And of course... Unforgiven. Rest in peace, my friend."
I'm pretty confident there is no foul play,
There were no apparent signs of foul play."
Based on our investigation, we can say with some certainty that Gene Hackman's pacemaker recorded its last event on February 17, 2025, ... The investigation is still ongoing, and we are awaiting further details from the final autopsy and toxicology reports, which may take months to complete,
If your heart required a pacemaker, there would certainly be an interruption at that point – and it might be the hallmark of when the death occurred. But it’s not necessarily because some people get a pacemaker to augment things, not necessarily replace things.”
I don’t think, you know, there was any indication that, again, there was no trauma or injured themselves, or head injury or brain injury.”

I was advised that a more thorough investigation will be completed,
According to the pathologist I think that is a very good assumption, that that was his last day of life."
The autopsy results, the official results, are going to help steer us in the right direction. That could change, obviously, and we’re not ruling that out,
That information was collected, that information was passed to the office of the medical investigator to help them make a determination,
It just depends how busy the laboratory is. But we’re hoping it comes sooner than later so we can answer some of these questions and hopefully it’ll help us in our investigation to help determine …the matter and cause of death.”
The autopsy is key. That is going to take some time, so I hope a little bit of patience on the family’s part, on everybody’s part, so we can have some answers into these deaths.”
