Appeals court deals Trump blow in challenge to E Jean Carroll verdict
That move effectively locks in a prior ruling from December 2023, when a three-judge panel upheld the jury's verdict that Trump attacked Carroll in the 1990s and then defamed her when he called her a liar decades later.
Carroll, a former magazine columnist, accused Trump of attacking her around 1996 in a department store dressing room in Manhattan.
A majority of judges on the 2nd Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals in New York rejected Trump's request for that court's full bench to rehear his challenge.
A federal appeals court on Friday rejected another attempt by President Donald Trump to review a $5 million judgment against him for sexually abusing and then defaming E. Jean Carroll.
