Jubilant crowds waving Hamas and Islamic Jihad flags defied a ban on celebrations to welcome 90 Palestinian prisoners home to the West Bank yesterday.
After the doors opened, women hugged their relatives and cried joyfully while throngs of people chanted, waved flags and climbed atop the vehicles.
Palestinians are celebrating the release of 90 prisoners, including 69 women, most of whom were detained without charges.
As the deal that Israel and Gaza reached involving a cease-fire and hostage release agreement made international headlines, pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian student groups on university campuses reacted to the news, with pro-Israel groups focusing their messaging on the hostages set to be freed and pro-Palestinian groups proclaiming that a cessation in fighting would not signal an end to their advocacy work.
