Israel pounds Beirut as security cabinet to discuss ceasefire

Tank fire struck Markaba, Wazzani and Kfarchouba, all of which lie within two kilometres of the Blue Line demarcating the border between Lebanon and Israel.

The truce between Israel and Hezbollah appears to be holding for a second day as Lebanese civilians return to destroyed homes and many Israelis turn their focus back to the remaining hostages in Gaza.

The Israel Defense Forces opened fire Thursday at "suspects" in southern Lebanon that allegedly violated the terms of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah.

The facility, which had been used to store medium-range rockets, was targeted as part of efforts to neutralize the threat posed by Hezbollah.
