Strongest storm in Asia this year kills 21 in Vietnam

The typhoon was Asia’s most powerful storm this year and made landfall on the country’s north-eastern coast on Saturday.

The storm, which made landfall in Vietnam on Saturday afternoon with wind speeds reaching 149 km/h, has claimed at least 14 lives in Vietnam, with ongoing concerns about potential flooding and landslides.

Typhoon Yagi claimed the lives of 21 people in Vietnam while killing four people on the southern Chinese island of Hainan and 20 in the Philippines.
