The tit-for-tat expulsions come amid serious allegations by Canada that Indian government agents were involved in the murder and extortion of Canadian citizens on Canadian soil — accusations that India has firmly denied.
Rejecting the allegations, India not only called back its High Commissioner from Canada but also expelled six of its diplomats from New Delhi.
India is angry that Canada has not just encouraged these activities, many of which border on crime under Canadian law itself, but instead accused India of engaging in killings on foreign soil.
