Maduro has launched crackdown against opposition following election

Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado urged Venezuelans to take to the streets on Saturday in protest of Maduro’s re-election, which has thrust the South American nation into a political crisis and drawn international criticism.
Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay and Costa Rica on Friday recognized opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia as the president-elect of Venezuela, joining the United States and Peru in rejecting the official results.
