I spoke today with my Russian counterpart Yuri Ushakov about President Trump's efforts to end the war in Ukraine, ... We agreed our technical teams would meet in Riyadh in the coming days to focus on implementing and expanding the partial ceasefire President Trump secured from Russia."
We are skeptical when it comes to trusting the Russians,
I believe on Monday we actually have the technical teams going” to the Kingdom
They agreed on a pathway to some ceasefire conditions... and to a full-on ceasefire that will be negotiated over the coming days. I actually think in a couple of weeks we’re going to get to it,
Much of the discussion was based on the call made yesterday with President Putin in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs,
We are very much on track,
This call was indeed not bad. Trump shared some things from his conversation with Putin, discussed further steps, the work of the teams, and needed to meet again and talk about how everything would work out,
I would not speak about any reactions, would just say that the whole tone of the conversation was that we have to move on,
Just completed a very good telephone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine,
It would be right for the world to respond by rejecting any attempts by Putin to prolong the war,
It is absolutely clear that we are talking about yet another provocation specially prepared by the Kiev regime, aimed at disrupting the peace initiatives of the US President."
The Kremlin's readout of the Trump-Putin call says that a 30-day ceasefire must require Ukraine to stop the mobilization into its armed forces, its rearmament, and will require an end to foreign military assistance and intelligence cooperation. Basically a surrender."
This conflict should never have started and should have been ended long ago with sincere and good faith peace efforts," and that the way forward in peace negotiations would begin "with an energy and infrastructure ceasefire, as well as technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, full ceasefire and permanent peace. These negotiations will begin immediately in the Middle East."
Unfortunately, we see that so far there has been no reciprocity on the part of the Kyiv side. There have been attempts to strike at our energy infrastructure facilities. We are watching closely to see whether Kyiv heeds the firm commitment of the Russian and U.S. presidents to do everything possible to move towards a peaceful settlement."
After making #Trump wait, #Putin did not agree to US/Ukraine proposal for full 30-day #Russia-#Ukraine ceasefire. Putin agreed to 30-day halt to attacks on energy infrastructure and to talk details about safe navigation in Black Sea. No agreement to cease fighting on land."
The devil is in the details. We have a team heading to Saudi Arabia, led by our national security advisor and our secretary of state. I think we need to work out these details [regarding the ceasefire]."
They were just lining up in combat order, six of them were shot down by 'Pantsirs' [surface-to-air missile system] and another one was destroyed by a [Russian] military aircraft."
Both leaders agreed this conflict needs to end with a lasting peace."
Attacks on civilian infrastructure in the first night after this supposedly pivotal and great phone call have not abated. Putin is playing a game here."
Putin's words are at odds with reality".
