Eurovision viewers accuse show of ‘censoring’ boos during Israel’s performance

The often-troubled relationship between Israel and the Eurovision Song Contest has come to the fore again, this time after six protesters with whistles and “oversized” Palestinian flags obstructed Israel’s Yuval Raphael as she rehearsed her song on Thursday afternoon.

Singer Yuval Raphael performed her song “New Day Will Rise” during Thursday night’s (15 May) semi-final, which aired in the UK on BBC One.

Israel has qualified for Eurovision's grand final tomorrow amid furious protests over their controversial participation in the competition.

It’s one of the world’s most-watched non-sporting annual events, and this year, all eyes will be on Basel, Switzerland, the host of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.
