Florida residents are reeling after Hurricane Milton swept across the state with roaring rains and winds, killing at least 18 people, wrecking more than 100 buildings and causing mass power blackouts.
At least 10 people were dead, and rescuers were still saving people from swollen rivers, but many expressed relief that Milton wasn't worse.

Milton exploded into a category 5 hurricane early in the week with a path that was predicted to rake across the Florida peninsula from Tampa Bay in the west to the beaches of Volusia county in the east.
