CrowdStrike provides cybersecurity for about 70 per cent of Fortune 100 companies, so the crash led to widespread failures that grounded planes, crippled businesses, disrupted 911 emergency systems and delayed banking transactions.
Australia was one of many countries affected by the outage that caused havoc worldwide after a botched software update from CrowdStrike.
The issue stemmed from an update to CrowdStrike's cybersecurity software, which triggered crashes on affected Windows systems.
The glitch was caused by a corrupted update which caused computers running Windows to crash.
