Kyiv destroys key bridge on Seym river in bid to protect gains inside Russia

The Ukrainian operation in Russia’s Kursk region began in late July with several days of airstrikes before Kyiv’s ground forces quickly advanced several miles deep into Russian territory on August 6.

Vladimir Putin is facing a serious public backlash, as he is believed to be haemorrhaging support among ordinary Russians, furious at his handling of the war in Ukraine.

Proletarsk is some 250 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and some 350 kilometers from Kyiv-held areas of fighting on the eastern Ukrainian frontline.
