Over 270 Pakistanis Exit India Via Attari; Hundreds More To Leave As Visa Deadline Ends Today
The exit deadline for Pakistani nationals visiting India on SAARC visas ended on April 26, while for the rest, except those on medical visas, it is set to close on Sunday, April 27 amid escalating tensions between the two countries over the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
Both sides have cancelled visas for Indian and Pakistani nationals respectively and ordered them to leave, before both shut their busiest border crossing in Punjab.
Shaitan Singh's baarat (wedding procession) reached the Attari-Wagah border from Barmer on April 24 to cross into Pakistan but was not allowed to proceed and had to return to their village.
Cousins Saleh Mohammad (26) and Mushtaq Ali (27), from Devikot village in Jaisalmer, had travelled to Ghotki district in Sindh province in July 2023 to visit their relatives, where they met Karam Khatoon (21) and Sachul (22).
