Israeli airstrikes target historic Lebanese city

At least 10 strikes hit the southern suburbs before dawn after the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings, with AFPTV footage showing explosions and clouds of smoke.

Israel this week issued a citywide evacuation order for the first time since it stepped up its attacks on Lebanon in late September.

The strikes in Beirut came after Israel's prime minister met US officials to discuss a possible truce deal for Lebanon.
