As the train pulled into the station, the suspect calmly walked up to the victim, who was in a seated position at the end of a subway car … and used what we believe to be a lighter to ignite the victim’s clothing, which became fully engulfed in a matter of seconds.”
Governor Hochul, a rider was set on fire on the F train and she died. What on Earth is going on?!?
It's a frequent occurrence - not like this, setting people on fire - but like the mugging, the killings, the fighting, the shootings - they're really common nowadays,
Since deploying the @NationalGuardNY to support @NYPDnews and @MTA safety efforts and adding cameras to all subway cars, crime is going down, and ridership is going up,
New Yorkers came through again,
What they saw was a person standing inside the train car fully engulfed in flames,
There is no room in a civilised society for people like him to be walking around,
2 people were murdered in the subway today,
You must have missed today’s news,
In March, I took action to make our subways safer for the millions of people who take the trains each day,
I was just walking by. The police was there already. I didn’t see her in flames but that’s what I heard. It was out. They shut the lights off [in the car] so nobody could see,
Grateful to the young New Yorkers and transit officers who stepped up to help our NYPD make a quick arrest following this morning's heinous and deadly subway attack,
Unbeknownst to the officers who responded, the suspect had stayed on the scene and was seated on a bench on the platform just outside the train car, and the body-worn cameras on the responding officers produced a very clear detailed look at the killer,
This apprehension was another in what has become a series of joint efforts involving different crimes between the police and the public we serve. In today's case, we were able to get incredibly clear and detailed images of the suspect from the initial incident."
I want to thank the young people who called 911 to help,
