This morning, we woke up to a dark cloud over all of Los Angeles. But it is darkest for those who are most intimately impacted by these fires. It has been an immensely painful 24 hours,
The Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire continue their rapid growth near Los Angeles as both have scorched over 10,000 acres,
Normally everything would be wet by now, which means there would be much less of a chance of an ignition leading to a big fire that gets out of control like what we’re seeing now,
We haven’t had any substantial rain for hundreds of days,
That’s the climate signal in all of this — that we’ve opened this window where we can get these big, devastating extreme events now,
Climate change is leading to more erratic and extreme precipitation patterns,
No one was in her home at the time,
The fire has substantially damaged five campuses,
Immediate threat to life. This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW."
All of PCH is on fire right now,
It is like driving through hell itself down here,
So gutted for the destruction and loss, ... Don't know if our place made it.”
Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family. My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too,
California State Parks mourns the loss of these treasured natural and cultural resources, and our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area,
Since [Tuesday] afternoon, we are directing all available resources into the emergency response effort and working to secure and protect as much as we can at affected nearby state parks,
State Parks was able to evacuate the horses and some of the cultural and historical artifacts, including artwork, at Will Rogers SHP ahead of the fire,
